Is it unhealthy that I've been spending most of my evenings making patterns with Amaziograph? I think not. In fact, it's so incredibly therapeutic and meditative that I just can't stop.
For those of you who don't know, Amaziograph is an app for the iPad Pro, which allows you to experience with different types of tiling and symmetry. Lots of people have been making intricate mandala designs with them, but—as some of you might know—I can't resist a good tiled pattern.
A lot of these are inspired by Hisui Sugiura, an amazing Japanese graphic designer from the early to mid 20th century, especially the bird in the pattern above (I pretty much copied that little guy), but it's just so much fun to experiment with cheery pastel shades and blocky illustration.
