The I Ching is an ancient Chinese book of philosophy and divination. The various traditional motifs illustrated in the monoline gold filigree make up one of the 67 I Ching hexagrams. Complexity and simplicity coexist in this cover; and though the ornamentation references the millennial history of the I Ching, its overall modern appearance emphasizes the text’s present-day relevance.
