the pratt institute

These two pieces were created together for a commemorative book commissioned by the Pratt Institute to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the Graduate Communications Design department. The designing of the book was divided in sections, I was in charge of the MFA portion, which focuses on process and uses a visual language inspired by the mashing of work and inspiration found on student's studio walls.

The letterpress-printed bookplate was affixed to the inside cover of the first edition of the book. As I tribute to the design of the 70s, I created something that marries the grid and geometry of Muller Brockmann and the experimental (though classically inspired) lettering of Herb Lubalin.
